Vintage 80's William Pearson Metallic Gold Lame & Black Polka Dot Formal Cocktail Gown

$650.00

William Pearson was a highly trained American couturier who began his formal fashion training in 1951 under Norman Norell, who is regarded as the father of American high fashion.

Operating his fashion house out of Los Angeles, CA, he catered to high society, the rich and famous of Beverly Hills and Palm Springs. His archival cocktail gowns retailed at exceptionally high price points for their era, often upwards of $700-800 and were sold exclusively through high-end specialty salons and luxury retailers like Saks Fifth Avenue and I. Magnin.

William Pearson dressed women in the 1980s such as socialite Nan Kempner and her circle of friends, including Joan Rivers, Joan Collins, Lauren Becall and Betsy Bloomingdale.

DETAILS

- The upper bodice is constructed from a neutral, nude-toned sheer mesh material. It is overlaid with a heavy pattern of multi-sized dimensional polka dots. The dots have two distinct textures: a raised matte black velvet chenille texture and a shimmering metallic gold lame weave.
- Elegant mock turtle collar that fastens at the back of the neck with two snaps.
- Sheer long sleeves
- Heavy black satin skirt creates a sharp visual contrast to the airy top. It features structural pleating at the natural waistline that opens into an overlapping, tulip petal pencil skirt in the front and in the back.
- Shoulder pads.
- Incredible vintage construction on this garment, today this would be a $2500 dress.

Condition: Excellent vintage condition with no flaws or issues, was professionally cleaned and ready to wear.
