Vintage 1950s Liberty House Waikiki Shops Metallic Gold Overprint Silk Hawaiian Shirt

$550.00

During the 1950s, high-end Hawaiian makers like Liberty House used a delicate technique where real metallic gold paint or foil flakes were screened over the top of the fabric print to give it a shimmering, luxurious finish under the sun. Gold foil printing from this era was expensive to produce and reserved for premium resort lines. Many have worn off entirely over the last 70 years, so finding one with the gold visible is rare.
