This tie was made in Italy by Italo Ferretti under his namesake brand's prestigious archival label, Santostefano. In the early 1970's Ferretti entered into a famous, decades-long collaboration with the ultra-luxury fashion house, Brioni. He was commissioned to design and handcraft their high-end silk premium neckwear line.
During this period, the workshop began creating these incredible Mosaico patchwork ties. They were entirely constructed by hand using individual scraps of exclusive silk from the Santostefano archives and meticulously stitching them together into a three-dimensional quilted canvas. Because each tie used a completely different assortment of fabric, no two patchwork ties from this era are exactly alike.
Ferretti holds multiple unique patents for premium tie construction and each silk thread used is individually dyed prior to weaving to achieve unmatched color depth.
