VINTAGE late 60s MASKIT - Tunic Top with amazing embroidered top. I have seen similar design in a maxi dress but never a Tunic / Mini Dress.

MASKIT is a hard to find label. They were the First Fashion House in Israel founded 1956 by Ruth Dayan. See last photos of Ruth's Designs being honored in Museum in Israel. Notice this design in maxi dress.

They were a luxury Fashion Brand. They enjoyed worldwide success in the 60s when American Celebrities like Audrey Hepburn wore their Garments. In the 60s -80s their Garments were sold in the U.S. only at Neiman Marcus, Bergoff Goodman, and Sak's Fifth Ave. Which lead to them opening a Boutique in New York.

I purchased this from the original owner. She bought this on a trip to Israel in 1967. She wore it once while on her trip in Israel. At the time she was a Teenager and remembered it was expensive, and was afraid to ruin it.


Size: Tagged a Vintage Small. But go by the measurements.

This MASKIT TUNIC has a butterfly sleeve so NO armhole - the shoulders and bust are open with a butterfly sleeve makes it a very comfortable top. Cotton fabric and loose flowing material. Designed for hot Israel summers. Loose but still protects your skin from the sun.
Has a high empire waist and flares out to full waist and hips.
Pull over style
Color is a deep pumpkin orange.
Hand embroidery is in a rainbow of colors with metallic gold thread. And a black border.
This style is very popular this season. Daisy Jones & The Six Vibes. Very Boho Chic.
